In a case of hairy cell leukemia, Gordona aurantiaca (Rhodococcus aurantiacus) was isolated from cerebrospinal fluid as the pathogen responsible for lethal infection of the central nervous system. The pathogen had been isolated previously from one case of pulmonary infection process only.

متن کاملFerrous ferric chloride downregulates the inflammatory response to Rhodococcus aurantiacus infection in mice.
The healthy drink Pairogen is mainly composed of ferrous ferric chloride water that reportedly changes the status of intracellular water from oxidative to antioxidative. Here, we investigated whether Pairogen affects host immune function in a murine model of granulomatous inflammation in response to Rhodococcus aurantiacus (R. aurantiacus) infection. Longitudinal ingestion of Pairogen markedly ...
متن کاملA regulatory effect of the balance between TNF-alpha and IL-6 in the granulomatous and inflammatory response to Rhodococcus aurantiacus infection in mice.
After i.v. inoculation with Rhodococcus aurantiacus, wild-type (WT) mice develop nonnecrotic, epithelioid granulomas. Because a high level of TNF-alpha is observed during the initial phase postinfection, we examined the extent to which TNF-alpha contributes to granulomatous inflammation using TNF-alpha gene-deficient (TNF-alpha(-/-)) mice. Despite a lack of R. aurantiacus proliferation, TNF-alp...
متن کاملPleural malakoplakia caused by Rhodoccocus equi infection in a patient after stem cell transplantation
Malakoplakia is a disease especially of the urinary tract with typical plaques most frequently observed in the urinary bladder's mucosa. In the context of immunosuppression malakoplakia can also occur in other organs. Some of these extravesical malakoplakias are associated with an infection by Rhodococcus equi, a rare human pathogen well known from veterinary medicine. Here we present the first...
